Appointed as one of the 100 most influential people in the art world, Basma Al
Sulaiman is a Saudi Art patron and the founder of BASMOCA. From a
prominent and distinguished Saudi family, Basma Al Sulaiman was raised in
Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where she earned an English Literature BA. She then
went on to earn a diploma in Modern and Contemporary art at Christie’s
Education, London. In 2011, Basma Al Sulaiman launched BASMOCA
(Basma Al Sulaiman Museum of Contemporary Art).
BASMOCA is the first virtual museum to present an actual private collection to
a limitless global audience of visitors. It allows its visitors to create avatars
and interact with other visitors as they are walking through a museum filled
with her own collection. The museum includes a range of Western and Middle
Eastern art, as well as a large number of Contemporary Chinese artworks.
Mrs. Al Sulaiman’s main focus is to support Saudi art and artists by promoting
them locally and internationally. She is one of the founding members of the
Saudi Art Council, the brain behind Jeddah Sculpture Park, and she has just
received an award, making her the first Saudi woman to be honoured for her
contribution to Saudi's Art and Culture.
